Keeping your natural hair healthy when you have hair extensions

It’s easy to forget about your natural hair when it’s covered in extensions. Many women neglect their natural hair, which makes their hair harder to repair when the extensions are removed and makes the extension bonds weaker.

When you have extensions, the easiest way to keep your natural hair healthy is with your diet. Your hair needs nutrients to stay strong and healthy. Eating lots of fatty, greasy foods or sweets will likely result in hair that doesn’t look as healthy. Below are some tips for maintaining healthy natural hair.

Stay hydrated. Drink a lot of water.

Everyone should be drinking 8 glasses of water a day. When you have extensions, you really should drink at least 8 glasses. Try to drink a glass first thing in the morning too so you can get rid of any toxins that were digested over night.

Hemp Seeds

Hemp seeds are a great source of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, which your hair needs to stay strong and healthy. Add them to your salad, smoothie and granola. You can find them in snack bars too.

Dark Green Vegetables

Your body uses Vitamins A and C to create sebum, the oily substance that naturally conditions your hair. Dark green vegetables like spinach, broccoli and swiss chard are great sources of Vitamins A and C.

Go Organic

The extra nutrients found in organic foods will help to maintain healthy hair when you have extensions. You’re working hard at maintaining your awesome extensions. Spending a couple of extra dollars on organic product and other foods will be worth it.

Eat lots of Citrus Fruits

Like dark green vegetables, citrus fruits are loaded with Vitamin C. Eat lots of oranges, grapefruit, tangerines, lemons and limes. Vitamin C can also be found in strawberries, kiwi and cantaloup.

Eat Orange Vegetables

Carrots, pumpkin and sweet potatoes are all excellent sources of Vitamin A.

Exercise

Staying active helps everyone feel and look better. It also removes toxins toxins, which can cause weak and unhealthy hair.
