Fall 2012 Hair Trends

October 16, 2012 · Posted in: Blog, Hair, Inspiration, Stylists Picks

This season, color is blending shock and chic. Where we used to use lipstick or nail polish to accentuate a style, color is now being used. It is an accessory that we can have fun with, changing it with your mood or personal style.

For brunettes this Fall, we are seeing a return of darker, shiny hair for brunettes. Many blondes, including famous ones, are making the jump to a dark, shiny brunette hair style.

For those looking to be adventurous with their hair style, there is a range of options that do not require a lot of commitment. Chalk, color sprays and semi-permanent dyes that were favored by the English punks in the 80s are fun ways of experimenting with your hair.

If you are looking for a more permanent look, your XEX stylist will bleach your hair before applying fashionable colors. We are seeing clients at XEX looking for conservative cuts with sections of temporary colors hidden in the back or under their bangs. This approach allows you to style your hair for your day job conservatively, but really have fun with it elsewhere. Purple, blues, pink, turquoise, lavender, lilac…when using temporary color you can really experiment and have some fun! If you want a more subtle look though, a few highlights can be a good option.

Many of the trends we outlined in our Spring trend blog post back in May are still hot as well. Be sure to check out that post for some other great hair style ideas! As always, your XEX stylist can help you find a hair style that matches your style, personality and daily needs.
