With every new wedding season comes new hair trends that we see emerging. Your Pinterest board of your wedding from 2013 probably doesn’t look anything like what you’ve saved for your 2022 wedding. With the summer approaching quicker than anyone expected, the wedding season is almost upon us. With your outfit, all picked out, and your accessories all bought, you might be missing the final piece. What are you going to do with your hair? The pride and joy for many, how your hair is done is an extension of the wedding day look, and like everything else, it must be perfect! See our list below of the best colors, styles, and trends for your 2022 wedding day.

Keeping it Natural

When it comes to their wedding day, most women expect that their makeup, hair, and overall look will be glamorous and worthy of the expensive photoshoot you will take. However, one of the biggest trends for 2022 is the natural look. Weddings this year seem to have an overwhelming floral and botanical theme, and along with that, many people are choosing to go with a natural look for their wedding.

Weddingwire.com says that “Alexandria Gilleo of Bridal By Alexandria in Fishkill, New York, has seen that for their brides, especially with shorter hair, they’ve wanted textured, yet natural down styles. “Speaking of natural, you’ll be seeing a lot more brides embracing their natural curls and texture this upcoming wedding season,” she added. “I think overall, people wore less makeup and styled their hair much less during the pandemic, and we found clients embracing their natural hair and natural beauty. It’s been really fun to help enhance a natural look.”

Ornate Hair accessories

A simple way to totally enhance your bridal look is to add a small, ornate hair accessory. Complementing your makeup, veil, and jewelry, this piece should overwhelm the look but add to it. This year, its all about blingy and bold when it comes to accessories. More is more, as they say. If you opt not to wear a veil, a hairpiece is a perfect addition to your bridal outfit. Warm colors and Shadow Roots

With lots of rescheduled weddings happening in 2022, brides may feel like they need a reset for their 2022 wedding. Warm colors like chocolate brown will be the hottest trend in 2022 hair colors, especially for that special day. Weddingforward.com says, “dark chocolate hair with rich caramel ombre is going to be extremely popular in 2022—especially after this long, hot summer. Dark chocolate is the perfect rich, healthy-looking color […] The highlights or balayage technique are heavier on the bottom with a ‘money piece’ in the front to add a pop of color and brightness.”

Shadow roots have also gained popularity in the last few years due to people not being able to get to the hair salon regularly. Think of your dark grown-out roots meeting your platinum or light blonde hair. But this time make it high fashion and on purpose! If you want a smokey, mysterious look to your wedding, dark roots and dark eye makeup will give you that effect even while wearing a white dress.

Bubble and other types of Braids

Every year there is a trend that emerges that is the star of the show for the year. We’ve seen classic updos as the trends in the past, or big teased bumps. But not this year – believe it or not braids are back. But did they ever really leave? The trendy 2022 take on the classic braid is showing up in magazines and online articles alike as one of the hottest trends of the year. Weddingforward.com says “Bubble braids are everywhere—on runways, on social media and, next year, in weddings. This fun trend is perfect for any to-be-wed looking for a unique day-of ‘do. They’re equal parts playful and elegant—and they’re extremely easy to achieve. Potempa says these braids are particularly great for to-be-weds with thick hair, as clear elastics can typically hold more hair than bobby pins.”

The bubble braid is achieved by either regularly braiding hair and pulling out some pieces so they look like bubbles, or by sectioning off hair with multiple elastics and puffing up each section. Check out some examples here

Bridal Waves

Last but not least, an absolute classic trend that has seemed to last a decade – is the soft bridal curl. In more now than ever before, the bridal wave has changed and adapted to the trends over the years and the 2022 version is sleek and elegant. With middle parts back in style, you’ll see a ton of birds wearing Bridal waves and nothing else. “Wearing your hair down will be a huge trend as it feels relaxed, confident, and free,” Potempa says. “From old-Hollywood glam waves to a middle-parted beach wave, this is a beautiful way to wear your hair—especially if you’re someone who also wears your hair down.” according to celebrity hairstylist Sarah Potempa.

With so many options to choose from, our advice is to listen to your heart and decide what style will best compliment you and your special day.
