Most of us have a pretty typical routine for washing, drying and styling our hair, especially if you’ve had the same style for a while. You may not be keeping your hair as healthy and vibrant as you can. Below are some basic maintenance tips to help you keep your hair looking and feeling its best.
Right before you get out of the shower, give your hair a quick rinse with cold water. It will help to seal the cuticle and will give your hair a sleek finish.
If you dry your hair in sections using a round brush, start at the root and move out to the ends. Once you’ve finished a section, let your hair cool down for a few seconds before starting on another section. Giving your hair a chance to cool down will help to set your style and gives your hair more body.
If you have a habit of wrapping your hair in a towel while you do your make up or finish your morning routine, you might want to stop. The towel’s cotton opens your hair cuticles and causes frizz. If possible, squeeze out excess water then let your hair air dry for a few minutes before you blow-dry.
You don’t have to fasten your hair to your curling iron. If you’re looking for softer curls, simply wrap your locks around the barrel and hold in place for 10 seconds.
If you wake up on a lazy day and your hair is all over the place, hit the top layer with a spray bottle until it’s damp. Then blow it out using a 2 inch round brush for high volume on the top layer.
When applying products, let them absorb in your hair for 10 minutes before you style. You’ll get the most out of them.
